Mechanical Fitter

Salary £21,312 per annum

Robinson Brothers Limited are an independent family owned company located in West Bromwich in the West Midlands. Founded in 1869, we are one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of speciality organic chemicals. We offer a wide range of custom manufactured intermediates on a commercial scale from kilograms to multi-tonnes, all produced to the highest possible safety, quality and environmental standards.

Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out all mechanical maintenance of plant, equipment and services whilst maintaining a safe and efficient operation to the necessary standards and meeting the required production targets. You should be familiar with Permit to Work systems and COSHH assessments. Using a wide range of skills, you will use drawings and manuals to overhaul and repair; pumps, fans, mills, vessels, tanks and specialised process equipment.

As well as maintenance work you will also be involved in new capital projects ranging from fabrication to installation. You will be expected to occasionally have to work at height and in confined spaces. Experience and a qualification in using aerial platforms is desired.

Having successfully completed a time served mechanical engineering apprenticeship, the successful candidate will possess City & Guilds Parts I, II & III in mechanical engineering. You will have previous experience of equipment maintenance (pumps, gear boxes ect) and have worked with a variety of pipework, valves and fittings, ideally within the Chemical or allied industry.

Candidates with experience of coded welding are highly desirable, however this is not essential.

Hours of work: 08:00 – 16:06 and this includes a 30 minute unpaid break, Monday to Friday. 25 days annual holiday plus all UK Bank Holidays, free life assurance, generous sick pay scheme, childcare vouchers and an optional salary sacrifice stakeholder pension scheme are some of the benefits that we offer.
