Vacancy – Technical Support Manager (TSM)


Due to internal promotion we are recruiting a TSM to work on the 4 days on / 4 days off pattern.


The prime function of the TSM is the day to day management and technical support of a group of chemical manufacturing plants (cell) to meet the company’s sales, output, efficiency, quality, safety and environmental performance targets. The TSM reports to the Manufacturing Cell Manager.

The TSM ensures that cell operations and personnel comply with all relevant legislation, internal procedures and standards and issues permits to work. The TSM assists the Manufacturing Cell Manager, with investigations and acts accordingly on findings related to SHE accidents, incidents and non-compliance in their area of control.

The TSM carries out COSHH and Manual Handling Assessments and works closely with R&D in managing the introduction of new processes into the Cell.

The TSM provides technical advice on the control and disposal of site generated wastes, recycling of solvents, the operation of the incinerator and abatement plant, and effective use of utilities. They ensure that plant equipment is maintained and operated to relevant standards and ensure that plant modification, repair and processing requirements are managed in a timely and efficient manner.

The TSM manages cell material storage areas and stock levels in compliance with relevant regulations and site standards. They attend Process Improvement Group meetings as required. They also manage raw material usages and product makes in a timely manner.

A degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering would be advantageous as would previous management or supervisory experience. You should have chemical manufacturing and processing experience and have worked in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Knowledge of the fine chemicals industry and experience in process development would be desirable.

We offer a starting salary in the range of £24-28k depending on experience and qualifications. A payment for 100 banked hours is included in this salary. Hours of work are 07:30 – 17:00 on a 4 days on/4 days off pattern that includes weekend work. An annual holiday entitlement of 181.25 hours is granted.
