Thioglycolate salts

Robinson Brothers Ltd has been supplying thioglycolic acid salts to the Cosmetics Industry since the early 1950's with manufacturing processes based upon the original production of thioglycolic acid. Today, the range accounts for almost 10% of sales turnover, with production capacity up to 400tonnes per year.

There are two significant applications within the cosmetic industry for the products. Firstly, is the use of Ammonium Thioglycolate in cold, permanent hair waving solutions. Secondly, is the use of alkaline thioglycolates, such as potassium, sodium and calcium thioglycolate, for depilatory (hair-removing) formulations and products.
