Photographic and Imaging

Robinson Brothers Ltd has been manufacturing products for the photographic industry for over 25 years. We supply proprietary intermediates and products manufactured under contract agreement to both the traditional photographic and digital imaging markets:

• effect chemicals for photographic processing - UV absorbers, anti-fogging agents, colour-couplers and anti-oxidants
• effect chemicals for medical imaging - photothermagraphic film media / thermal laser printing
• intermediates for Ink-Jet dye media

Quality and consistency are essential criteria for our customers. Some of our products are used directly in photographic processing media.  We not only work to specification, but can also apply SPC (statistical process control) to assess output quality and control the process. Our consistent quality performance and dedication to ongoing process improvement has helped us to gain preferred supplier status at some of the world's leading photographic companies.

Technologies

We manufacture a diverse range of imaging materials, often based on our core strengths in sulphur chemistry, bromination and cyclisation reactions. Many of these products involve multi-stage synthesis and are manufactured on a scale of a few kilos to tens of tonnes.

• Sulphur chemistry - mercaptans, disulphides and sulphones
• Thiocarbonylation - thiazoles and thiadiazoles
• Heterocyclic chemistry - triazoles, hydantoins and mercaptobenzimidazoles
• Hazardous reagents - bromine, hydroxylamine and chlorosulphonic acid

Many of our imaging products are manufactured specifically for our customers under confidentiality, but our proprietary products include:

• tetramethylcystamine dihydrochloride
• tribromomethylphenylsulphone
• 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole
• 3-amino-5-methylthio-1,2-4-triazole
• 1-benzyl-5-ethoxyhydantoin
• sodium 2-mercaptobenzimidazole-5-sulphonate
