Aqueous Dithiocarbamates

Aqueous solutions of sodium salts such as Sodium Di-Ethyl Dithiocarbamate (SDEC) and Sodium Di-Methyl Dithiocarbamate (SDMC) are effective for the treatment of wastewaters containing heavy metals.

Metal Finishing industries such as wire production as well as power stations, incinerators and chemical industries can ultilise the substitution reaction of the sodium ion for the heavy metal. This allows the user to meet and exceed regulatory and responsibility requirements for their waste water discharge. Effluent streams can be treated even if the metals are highly complexed and / or chelated.

Other amine derivatives are commercially available, the most common being Sodium Di-Butyl Dithiocarbamate (SDBC) and Sodium Di-Benzyl Dithiocarbamate (SBEC).

Other applications include use as accelerators in natural and synthetic rubber and latex. For more information on these products and their uses, please visit the Robac Polymer Chemicals website.
