Process Development

Robinson Brothers Ltd.(RBL) has an enviable reputation as a dependable and discreet producer of custom-synthesised chemicals particularly for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and photographic industries.

An active research department with 26 current members of staff, a kilo-lab facility, a versatile pilot plant, modern analytical services and permanent on-site  independant engineering capability (design, procure and build) enable RBL to offer a fully integrated service to its global customer base.

At RBL the emphasis  is on process development, providing commercially viable and scalable processes from literature references and technical documents. In particular, we welcome the chance to work with innovative companies, taking their ideas and turning these into reality. Our corporate independence and relatively small size means that we can respond flexibly and rapidly to our customers demands.

Links with universities and consortia allow us to ultilise and trial the most up to date technologies and inventions. Current projects include use of chiral catalysis and enzymes and technology for enabling large-scale processes to be run on small-scale high throughput equipment (for example, continuous hydrogenation methodology and spinning disc reactors).

We have an excellent track record for taking initial enquiries through the laboratory and on to the Pilot Plant and commercial manufacture. We have completed pilot plant campaigns within weeks of receipt of enquiry and completed tonnage manufacture within months. In addition, all processes running on our production plant are regularly reviewed and monitored by formalised and multi-disciplinary process improvement groups (PIG's). The PIG's examine all aspects of the process with the aim of improving efficiency and quality, decreasing cost and minimising the impact on the environment.
